Ps. 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
You may not realize it, but every follower of Jesus Christ is under constant spiritual attack.
Sometimes it is our health, or our finances. Sometimes it is our mind or emotions. Other times it is our relationships, or a mysterious set of circumstances. Often times it is a combination of these things and much more. Some seasons there is a lull, but then there are times where the attacks bombard us with unimagined intensity.
Job went through it. Joseph—for years—was overcome by it. Daniel, lost it all and then some. Esther put her life on the line. King David battled for a decade. Paul pleaded for God to take it away. Even Jesus himself was tempted as Satan twisted this very Psalm—why would we be any different?
Satan and his army of demons have one agenda. It is to destroy you and everything you represent as a believer in Christ. Satan wants to destroy your family. He wants to cause your church to implode and your ministry to flounder. His primary tactics are deception, lies and accusations.
So what should you do when you are boxed in as the enemy launches a relentless series of spiritual assaults?
Psalm 91:1 provides vital wisdom for intensified spiritual warfare. Simply put we must intentionally create shadowed spaces.
The Psalmist is calling his readers to create a special space where God’s wondrous presence overshadows the competing noise from the evil one. It is a sacred and secret space of quiet, safety, privacy and rest in his protective shadow.
